FCAMPT

All of our physiotherapists are FCAMPT certified or are working towards their certification. What is FCAMPT? FCAMPT stands for Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy. It is a designation that is considered to be the gold standard in Orthopaedic Physiotherapy and is internationally recognized. In order to obtain the designation, physiotherapists take extensive post-graduate education and training. They must pass multiple written exams and two practical exams. Approximately only 1% of registered physiotherapists have this designation in Canada.

Soft tissue massage

A type of therapeutic massage that targets the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. Soft tissue massage manipulates the body’s soft tissues with various techniques, such as kneading and rubbing.

Joint mobilization and manipulation

Methods used to improve range of motion and reduce joint pain and stiffness. These effective techniques guide the joints and surrounding tissues through various movements.

Myofascial release

Focuses on releasing restrictions in the fascial system, which is the connective tissue surrounding muscles, bones, and organs. Our therapists perform myofascial release by applying sustained pressure to restricted areas, which restores normal movement and reduces pain.

Trigger point therapy

Works by applying pressure to specific areas of tightness or “knots” within muscles, which can help to reduce pain and improve muscle function.

Strain-counterstrain

Your therapist will perform strain-counterstrain by positioning your body to reduce muscle tension or spasm. You will remain in this position temporarily, allowing your muscles to relax and reset to their normal resting length.

Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF)

Combines passive stretching and isometric contractions to improve flexibility, strength, and range of motion. Your therapist will guide you through specific movement patterns to facilitate the desired outcome.

Passive stretching

A technique in which your therapist fully leads your stretching routine so that you can fully rest your body in a specific position.
